Recognition of FITUR to the tourism industry

The International Tourism Fair delivered the FITUR 2018 Awards on May 29, as recognition to the efforts of companies, professionals, institutions and researchers to enhance the image of the sector and contribute to its development.

The awards for the ‘Best Stands’ were for the communities (regions) of Aragón, Comunitat Valenciana, and Turismo de Galicia, as well as for the countries of El Salvador, Turkey and Latvia, with a special mention for the stand of the State of Guerrero. In the category of Companies, the winners were Paradores de Turismo; the Hotel Business Association of Madrid, AEHM, and SEGITTUR FITUR KNOW HOW & EXPORT, with a special mention to the H10 HOTELS stand.

Likewise, the awards to the Best Product of Active Tourism, that are organized in collaboration with the magazine Aire Libre, have been for Gastronomic Stations of Asturias; Douro expedition in Kayak de Zamora; Natural Parks of Galicia, Experiences in the middle of nature, and the Model of Astroturismo of La Palma. In the International Category, Indigenous Paraísos (Mexico) and Kayak4conservation (Papua Indonesia) were awarded.

For its part, the award ‘Tribune FITUR-Jorge Vila Fradera’, organized in collaboration with the Spanish Association of Tourism Experts, AECIT, distinguished the work “Measurement and Analysis of Sustainability: Synthetic Indicators through Multicriteria Methods and their Relation with Tourism in the Litoral de Andalucía “, by Dr. Daniela Fernanda Thiel Ellul and Dr. Enrique Navarro Jurado.

IFEMA hosts the International Congress of the Transplant Society, TTS

The 27th International Congress of the Transplant Society (TTS) will host from June 30th to July 5th the most important meeting in the world in the field of transplants. The main theme of the congress is “Outcome Driven”, in which the Spanish Transplant Society, the Madrid Transplant Society and the Transplant Society  participate. More than 3,000 professionals from 80 countries will participate in a program designed to highlight the opportunities for active work that cover the latest developments in transplant science, clinical practices, ethics and public policies. In addition, the program will feature expert sessions that will address issues such as organ donation, the transformation of big data in medicine and transplantation, or future developments in transplants: from immunotherapy to tissue engineering.

The election of Madrid for the Congress is especially relevant due to the relevance of Spain that had held for 26 years the world leadership in the field of transplants. According to the data presented by the National Transplant Organization (ONT): in 2017 there were 5,259 transplants (a rate of 113 per million population), with a forecast of over 5,000 by 2020.

The Spanish Society of Transplantation (SET) addresses the latest advances in organ transplants

IFEMA hosts on June 30th and July 1st the 5th National Congress of the Spanish Transplant Society (SET), an event that will bring together all health professionals related to organ transplantation. Coinciding with the 27th International Congress of the Transplant Society (TTS) which takes place from June 30th to July 5th at IFEMA, both companies work together to promote interest initiates and knowledge exchange. The scientific program of this project will show the most innovative aspects in the field of organ transplants, with plenary sessions of general interest, and also oral sessions where the works of researchers will be presented, before being published in the Transplantation Proceedings after their evaluation. The contents of the scientific sessions will include advances in basic research, emerging clinical problems and technical innovation in clinical practice.

Talent and urban creativity at the MULAFEST festival

The Festival of Trends and Urban Culture MULAFEST returns to IFEMA between June 22nd and 24th. In its seventh edition, this festival seeks to promote creativity and alternative talent, involving attendees in multiple activities, workshops and competitions that allow them to show their best qualities in the different areas that make up the festival, whether in photography, illustration, fashion or personalization of cars, through different areas such as tattoo, urban art, illustration, photography, fashion, music, garage, beat box and body painting.

 

As far as ‘Tattoo’ is concerned, more than a hundred studios from around the world will gather at the Madrid Tattoo Convention as a meeting point between the best national and international professionals. The ‘Body Painting’ will feature daily exhibitions, as well as free workshops and a masterclass where you can discover the whole creative and technical process of body makeup. In addition MULAFEST 2018 will give voice to artistic projects by new talents of the scene of our country, in the category of urban art, illustration and photography through the I Tuenti Urban Art Box Contest. Another novelty will be the celebration of the I Blipoint International Urban Photography Competition, where the city and urban culture will be protagonists.

The League of Professional Videogames lands at GAMERGY

The League of Professional Video Games (LVP) and IFEMA organize from June 22nd to 24th the ninth edition of GAMERGY, the largest event of professional competitions; this year the event is growing in number of games and semiprofessional tournaments, as well as in activities and prizes for casual players.

This edition will be the perfect union between professional, semi-professional and casual game competition. One of the novelties of GAMERGY is the number of professional or semi-professional tournaments that will be featured in the event. In addition to the Orange Cups, which will continue to have their final phase at IFEMA, the Gamergy Open (former Grand Open) grows in number and variety, with 14 games represented, which will distribute more than 28,000neuros in prizes. In addition GAMERGY attendees will have the opportunity to face professional players, but also famous YouTubers, commentators and other personalities from the world of electronic sports.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Clash Royale will crown their national champions between the 22nd and the 24th of June, while League of Legends will have their moment with the dispute of the third day of their summer season. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will have a stage in a room with a capacity for more than 700 people. Also, League of Legends and Clash Royale will be combined throughout the weekend on a venue with a capacity of over 1,200 spectators.

STUDY IN SPAIN, academic opportunities for foreign students

After the success of the latest edition of STUDY IN SPAIN Colombia, which received more than 4,500 students interested in learning about academic opportunities in Spain, STUDY IN SPAIN continues its Ibero-American tour. The next stop of this international event, organized by IFEMA and promoted by SEPIE (Spanish Service for the Internationalization of Education) will take place on June 13th and 14th in Quito (Ecuador), and on June 16th in Lima (Peru).

The event will offer visitors the opportunity to meet a wide range of academic degrees and postgraduate degrees, doctorates, master’s degrees, specializations and MBA, from universities and Spanish educational institutions. They will also make complementary services available to them: booking places, travel and accommodation information, and visas management.

The objective of STUDYING IN SPAIN is to maximize the potential of Spain and its network of universities and educational centers, as well as to establish links with the educational entities from those nations to generate synergies, since 40% of the more than 100,000 foreign students come to Spain every year are Ibero-American.

The event will offer an agenda of information sessions and seminars aimed at Ibero-American students, with the aim of strengthening Spain as a studying destination

 

FORUM ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY, the meeting point of environmental management

The third edition of the FSMS ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY FORUM represents the largest commercial and knowledge sharing event on environmental management. The event, organized by IFEMA from June 13th to 15th, will bring together more than 250 companies from 12 countries, and will occupy a net exhibition area of ​​12,096 m2.

Under the umbrella of FSMS, several other events will take place: the 19th International Fair of Urbanism and Environment, TECMA; the 6th International Recovery and Recycling Fair, SRR; the 3rd Professional Salon of Cleaning and Hygiene, ESCELAN; and the 3rd FORUM OF THE CITIES OF MADRID; besides a dozen events such as the National Congress of Recovery and Recycling, by the Spanish Federation of Recovery and Recycling, FER; the 1st Symposium on Sustainable and Professional Cleaning, and the VII National Meeting on the Management and Recycling of Vehicles not in use, organized by SIGRAUTO, among others.

GENERA 2018, the latest in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector

From June 13th to 15th, the International Fair of Energy and Environment (GENERA 2018), organized by IFEMA in collaboration with the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), will present an interesting perspective of technological advances and developments that have marked the evolution of the sector of renewable energy and energy efficiency. The event will take place in Hall 8 of Feria de Madrid, presenting the latest developments in equipment and services related to the different energy sources and the representation of the sectors of cogeneration, trigeneration, microgeneration, gas, oil, coal, geothermal energy, energy saving and energy efficiency, hydraulic and mini-hydraulic, wind, solar thermal, photovoltaic solar, thermoelectric solar, biomass, biofuels, waste, hydrogen and fuel cell, mobility and other energies as well as the proposals of energy services companies.

GENERA holds an edition in clear growth, with a participation of more than a hundred exhibiting companies, representing an increase of 30% compared to last year. The event will show different solutions aimed at increasing the energy efficiency of facilities and sustainability solutions from various technologies, with a prominent presence of solar photovoltaic but also supplies for wind production, biomass, lighting, LED, etc. In its framework, training sessions will be held in FORO GENERA, and 19 projects will be presented in the INNOVATION GALLERY.

The SECOND HAND VEHICLE HALL will gather more than 5,000 vehicles

The reference event of the second-hand vehicle market holds its annual event between June 5th and 10th, in Halls 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of Feria de Madrid. Organized by IFEMA and promoted by GANVAN (National Association of Dealers in Motor Vehicles, Repair and Spare Parts), the Used Vehicle Show will gather more than 5,000 semi-new cars of all models and segments of the market with high levels of equipment, certified by ATISAE and ready for testing and purchase on the show.

The event, which expects more than 46,000 visitors and aims to reach a new sales record with 4,000 vehicles marketed, will have the participation of a total of 33 brands – Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Audi, BMW, Citroën, Dacia, DS, Fiat , Fiat Professional, Ford, Hyundai, Infiniti, Jeep, Kia, Lexus, Lotus, Mercedes, Mini, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot, Ssangyong, Seat, Skoda, Smart, Subaru, Suzuki, Renault, Toyota, Volvo, Volkswagen and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles- together with distributors and multi-brand companies.
