Madrid is set to become the centre of attention for the international artistic community. From February 27th to March 3rd, IFEMA will host ARCOMadrid 2019, the International Contemporary Art Fair, celebrating its 39th edition this year and reinforcing its role as a space to learn about artists spanning various generations.
IFEMA halls 7 and 9 will feature proposals from 205 galleries from 31 different countries. 167 of these galleries make up the General Programme. The remainder are part of the curated sections: “Peru at ARCO” (with a selection of 23 artists from 15 galleries), “Dialogues” (13) and “Opening” (22).
ARCOMadrid consolidates its role in projecting Latin American art in Europe
In this new edition, ARCOMadrid consolidates its role in connecting Latin America with Europe, with 29% of international participation dedicated to artists from that continent. In this edition Peru is the Guest Country, and it has organised activities and exhibits in key museums and art centres around Madrid. Some of the featured artists represent the country’s leading artistic references today.
This year also features a special focus on artistic quality and singularity, encouraging the search for new talent and content for collectors and professionals. The quality of the new galleries participating in ARCO 2019 is worth noting. Of the 167 galleries selected, 46 galleries are participating for the first time ever.
Other key elements of ARCOMadrid 2019 are, without doubt, the voices of contemporary art professionals. As a platform for reflection, art critics, curators, directors and other industry professionals will be able to exchange their ideas and knowledge.
